Children are able to be infinitely creative, they have unbounded imaginations and they will often surprise and delight us with their ideas. As adults, we have often lost this creativity and getting back in touch with it as an adult can be a revelation! Playing with your children is important though for a number of other reasons; it helps them solve problems, test out ideas and develop social skills. Spending time playing with your children is also a clear indication of your love for them.

Here are some tips which will help you play well with your children:

Get onto your child’s level. Be their friend on the ground with them.

1. Take your child’s lead. Let them tell you the play story – be part of your child’s fantasy. You’ll be amazed at what a great time you’ll have. You might even let go of some of your stress too!
Kiddie time goes slowly – take the pace from them. Slow down and don’t feel you have to fill every silence with words.

2. Listen attentively to what they are saying and use their language when you speak to them.
Try not to ask too many questions, and if you do ask a question, allow plenty of time for it to be answered. Try not to answer it yourself.

3. Play is not a competition! In the early years, don’t get wound up too much by rules and rule breaking either; let them win – even if they cheat a bit… it’s worth it just to see the joy on their faces. (You can teach them about rules later).

4. Use praise as much as you can. “Hey, I didn’t think of that, what a great idea!”, “Great job, I love the way you did that.”

5. Describe what your child is doing as they do it, so: “I can see you’re putting dolly to bed now and she’s falling asleep, she must be very tired. That’s nice, dolly will have liked that kiss you just gave her…. Just like when mummy puts you to bed.” This is a great way to develop language.
Have a kitbox for creative play – this might include a dressing up box, puppets, play food, play doh, paints and craft bits etc.

6. If you can, set aside 10 minutes every day to play and give your children your undivided attention. Make sure it’s a time when you won’t be under pressure to do something else. You’ll be amazed at how much you get out of it and how much your child’s behaviour develops as a result. Happy playing!

Play is so important. Taking your time to join in benefits both you and your child. And, it is a great way to let them take leadership.

I do consider all of the ideas you’ve offered on your post. They’re very convincing and will definitely work. Nonetheless, the posts are too short for starters. Could you please lengthen them a bit from subsequent time? Thanks for the post.

Greetings! Quick question that’s entirely off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly? My web site looks weird when viewing from my iphone. I’m trying to find a theme or plugin that might be able to correct this issue. If you have any recommendations, please share. With thanks!

jamesvhawk, the gorge is just on the other side of the mountains (well a few miles) lol. i’m on Mt. Hood at Timberline in the mdlide of the ’08 summer. i hiked up to a peak because it had a great view, then all of a sudden these clouds swept in and it started dumping snow. it was pretty cool! man, its tough sometimes but sometimes we have to use pain as a catalyst something has to shake our little world so we change. some of the best lessons for me have hurt the most but it prepares us for now

I definitely liked this blog. I believe your subject matter is definitely excellent. :-) Yet I realized that the post headline a little monotonous! I believe you actually can strengthen on the title by referencing how the leading blog writers execute it. It’s a shame that you do not obtain ample visibility only because of your article titles. Additionally, why are there a lot of spammers over here?

Michael Kors is known by many fashionable people, but has never been an authority in the handbag world. His Sachtels have been basic and have lacked ingenuity at times, but he has designed an attention grabber for spring!

With havin so much content and articles do you ever run into any issues of plagorism or copyright infringement? My site has a lot of completely unique content I’ve either written myself or outsourced but it seems a lot of it is popping it up all over the web without my permission. Do you know any solutions to help reduce content from being ripped off? I’d definitely appreciate it.
